Research indicates that early exposure to “otherness” and diversity can help young people unlearn biases and have a critical impact on their interaction with people of other races and backgrounds.
One method of early exposure is through the arts, which can help students adopt the perspectives of others, and increase interactions with the diversity and realities of communities around the world.
We are, therefore, pleased to announce We Represent Art Toolkits. Created by Art Represent in collaboration with artists affected by conflict, featuring art toolkits & guides designed for secondary school teachers and students (age 12+) to use art as an effective tool for building empathy and civic engagement.
Our educational art toolkit project will guide participants in creating individual and/or group art projects to be shared with their wider community, allowing them to: build essential skills, engage with creative work, learn how to lead projects, and challenge stereotypes by telling nuanced and dynamic stories through art.
We want to enable young people to feel empowered to create social change within their own communities and in the world.
