ANG SANG

Ang Sang was born in Lhasa, Tibet in 1962. He studied painting, including the traditional Thangka (religious scroll) style, at Tibet University where he graduated in 1988. That same year, he won a prize for his artwork Lamb at the Tibet Contemporary Art Exhibition in Beijing. Since then, Ang Sang has exhibited internationally including the acclaimed exhibition "Anonymous" curated by Rachel Perera Weingeist.

Ang Sang's paintings show unintentional emotion. His work hovers somewhere between ancient Tibetan traditional art and Western avant-garde art in an attempt to highlight the emphasis on spirituality in Tibet and make it more accessible to an international audience.
