Tibet has largely been closed off from the Western world since its occupation by China in 1951. It is through the art produced within the nation that the six million Tibetans currently residing in Tibet are able to communicate with an outside audience. Ang Sang is one these emerging artists. His work show unintentional emotion and merges traditional Tibetan iconography with a Western aesthetic in an attempt to highlight the strong sense of spirituality of his hometown.
