Firouz Farman-Farmaian’s father encouraged him to paint as a child and Firouz’s first painting was inspired by a picture of his father playing polo. Firouz began painting polo, horses and animals for many years. 'Buzkashi' is the national sport of Afghanistan, where horse-mounted players attempt to drag a goat or calf carcass towards a goal and this series sees Firouz use a variety of media to create an imaginative body of work which continues to explore the subject of horses.
