Efrain Ugueto studied at The Experimental University of the Arts, where he specialised in painting. Following his dissertation, which examined the relationship between religious and commercial images, Efrain began creating satirical Pop Art influenced work which explores the similarities and contrasts between religious iconography and mass-media motifs.
Efrain works with images which either as a result of religious practice or mass-media have come to become important visual symbols in contemporary life. In this piece, Efrain brings together the images of Jesus Christ and the popular cartoon Winnie The Pooh as a hybridization which entirely transform both icons into something entirely new.
